Land of Mines

"In 2007 i started documenting the evidences left by mining exploitation in Sardinia, the island where i live. Abandoned buildings, deep shafts, dumps, galleries and big voids are just a few keys of a new transformed landscape. And those voids also lay inside the humans that worked in those mines most of their life. For more than a century the island got exploited by many mining companies. Then mining companies left and the land started to change again. People are changed too. In this island there are extraordinary men still alive who gave their lives to the mines with the hope to create a better future for their sons and daughters. Unfortunately this dream broke up. My aim is to rebuild it and preserve it for the next generations."(continue...)
